Funeral service with full military honors for Richard Preston Parker, 66, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice.
Dianne Markwood Thompson passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Camden, South Carolina. Dianne was born in Greensboro, NC and moved to Atlanta, GA, where she spent the majority of her life. She was the daughter of the late Malcom H. and Selma M. Markwood. Dianne was an artist in Atlanta and enjoyed traveling the world. She had moved to Camden in 2011 to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Mary E. Washington, 75, of Reddick Road, Bishopville, S.C. passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Haile's Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas Allen White, 86, of Lancaster, widower of Martha McManus White, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born January 19, 1927 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Baxter White and Hattie Jane Caskey White. Mr. White was a member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church. He had retired from Springs Industries following forty-two years of service and was a US Army World War Two Veteran. Mr. White was a Mason and member of Jackson Lodge # 53, the Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Jackson Shrine Club.
Two nights after a mistake-filled loss to Region 4-4A foe Richland Northeast, Lugoff-Elgin baseball coach Randy Stokes was interested to see how his team would react in Thursday's non-conference game at White Knoll.
There were two things which Camden baseball coach was looking to get out of Thursday's non-region game at Fairfield Central. First, he wanted to come out of Winnsboro with the victory. Next, he wanted to give several of his pitchers some much-needed time on the mound.
