The Bethune Police Department (BPD) installed a new computer system at no cost to the town. BPD Capt. Brandon Brown informed Bethune Town Council of the installation during its Aug. 9 meeting. Minutes of the meeting did not detail how the BPD acquired the computer system.

The news recently carried the information that some schools in Kershaw County would be delayed by two hours. The reason was vandalism of school buses. Cleo Lampert has always had a special place in her heart for animals, specifically horses. She started taking riding lessons at her horse trainer's farm where regular 4H club meetings were also held. Cleo attended a few meetings, and thought it was fun. At 8 years old, Cleo joined the West Wateree Ropes and Reins 4H club and recently joined the Kershaw County 4H Horse Club. Over the past eight years, her main focus areas have been horses and agriculture.
Wateree Boat Club, a new membership club offering recreational boating, has opened at Wateree Marina on Lake Wateree. "Wateree Boat Club is a private club designed for people who enjoy boating but prefer not to own a boat," Manager Cook Young said.
