In one of their science units, Midway Elementary School kindergarteners learned about the differences in the seasons of the year. Their activities included a "dress-up" center in which pairs of students chose a season, selected clothing that would be appropriate, and then modeled their outfits for the class. Ministerial Association reflects on meaning of observance, announces Community Lenten Services

The Kershaw County Ministerial Association (KCMA) has a tradition of offering Community Lenten Services. These services are hosted by a local congregation while inviting another local pastor to preach. In past years these services were held in the evenings. This year the services have been moved to the noon hour.

Partin earns academic honors at The Citadel

Cadet Edwin Davis Partin of Camden was recently honored for outstanding academic achievement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, during the fall semester of the 2011-2012 academic year. Partin earned one of the college's top academic honors, a Gold Star.

Hillary Brooks

Born May 13, 1950; Hillary Rogers Brooks, of Camden, SC, died on February 6, 2012, from complications relating to her long battle with cancer. Growing up in Northern Virginia, with her parents; Priscilla Blackett Rogers and the late Robert Edmund Rogers, she graduated from The Madeira School in 1968. She gained her undergraduate degree from Randolph Macon Women's College earning a BA degree in Religion in 1972.

Robert Charles Bair

Robert C. "Bob" Bair, of Camden, went home to his Heavenly Home Monday, February 6, 2012. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Camden First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Hancock officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship center. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Photo cutline -- Hoping to strike it rich -- Ron Pannullo looks for a good score during the weekend Carolina No-Tap bowling tournament held at the Super Bowl in the Burndale Shopping Center. A total purse of $2,500 was offered, and Randy Conn of Columbia rolled away with the $1,000 first prize. More than 100 bowlers competed in the tournament, and several local people were among the 20 semifinalists.
