The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, and what better way to prepare for the holidays than including your furry friends in the festivities? However, with all of the hustle and bustle of this busy season, we often forget to adapt our celebrations for the safety of our pets. Here are some ways to keep Fido and Fluffy safe while rockin' around the Christmas tree.

Parents spend more than $500 a month to 'outdo' each other

A new survey from suggests that 72 percent of parents find themselves comparing their children to other children and 78 percent of parents feel pressure to "outdo other parents" -- costing them an average of $532.87 per month, per child for extra clothes, parties and gadgets. Thirty percent admitted that they charged it to credit cards.

The Kershaw County Parks and Recreation Department and First Palmetto Bank recently sponsored their annual Christmas Card Contest. The contest is designed to give elementary school students in Kershaw County the opportunity to show off their creativity and artistic skills by sending a Christmas card. It also gives students the chance to win cash prizes from First Palmetto.
