Carolina Cup

Weather forecasters -- a notoriously inaccurate lot -- did everything they could to dump a bucket of cold water on last Saturday's Carolina Cup, but despite their dire predictions, thousands of people turned out to the Springdale Race Course and enjoyed a terrific afternoon of horse racing and socializing, all topped off by a local horse winning the featured Carolina Cup race. We were reminded once again of all that the event means to this area and how much it burnishes the reputation of Camden.

Clowning Around

The circus came to town for Baron DeKalb Elementary School students. Ms. Farnum's first grade class completed a unit of study about the circus and researched and wrote about circus acts and animals. Students rehearsed circus acts and performed in front of the 4 and 5-year-old kindergarten students, first and second grade students and 43 friends and family members. The acts included clowns, dancing bears, lions, elephants, acrobats and a strongman.
