Last week an airplane flying from Chicago to Germany hit a bit of rough air. One of the crew spilled his drink. The stuff trickled down into the instruments. There it set off the hijacking alarm.
Getting three individual championships was nice, but it was a win in the consolation finals which provided the icing on the cake for the Lugoff-Elgin wrestling team which captured last weekend's 31st annual Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Rock Hill High School.
With recent freezing temperatures across South Carolina, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts headed to the field should be aware of the threat of hypothermia and how to combat it. Hypothermia occurs when exposure to the wind, cold and wetness drain heat from the body faster than it can be produced.
The tragic and senseless shooting of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is just another in a long line of such incidents that occur with too much regularity. The Giffords shooting generated a great deal of publicity because she is a United States representative, but such mass violence has become so common that it's hardly shocking anymore. Our grand city of Camden is a beautifully preserved town laid out in an 18th century plan devised by Joseph Kershaw. We are proud of our historic homes and buildings, carefully placed public parks, wide streets, and beautiful trees. So it is easy to forget that this was not the original plan for the "town" that was to develop in this area of South Carolina. The original plan was a part of the "Township ...

Dear Annie: I have an 8-month-old puppy, and I take her to a local dog park so she can run off leash and play with the other dogs, which she loves. In the three months I have been taking her, "Phoebe" has never been attacked or fought with another dog. That was until last night, when Phoebe approached another dog that was on a leash and that dog attacked her.
