The IRS has expanded its "Fresh Start" initiative by offering more flexible terms to its Offer-in-Compromise Program. These newest rules enable some financially distressed taxpayers to clear up their tax problems even quicker.
Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested two men after determining they were responsible for breaking into several homes and outbuildings near the town of Kershaw. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews identified the two men as David Patrick Schweikert Jr., 21, and Jeffery Joseph Gray, 22, both living at an address on Old Georgetown Road West.
Community volunteer Tony Scully is announcing his candidacy for mayor of Camden in the Nov. 6 election. Scully, married to theatre and film actress Joy Claussen Scully, says he will campaign to bring people together again in an open government focusing on economic recovery.
Funeral service for Michael Lee Grant, 45, of Cordova, TN, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Rembert, S.C. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
For the past ten years, Kershaw County residents have helped provide school supplies for more than 2,000 local needy students through the School Tools program. In order to make it even more convenient for persons to participate this year, a special account has been set up at First Citizens Bank where donations can be dropped off or sent through the mail.

A celebration of life service for James Sevelle "Jim" Hill, Jr., 64, Camden, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Bruce Marthers and the Rev.
