Alfred Jiles, Jr., 67, of Bishopville, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Alfred, Sr. and Almetta Dinkins Jiles. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown's Funeral Home Chapel of Rememberance, with burial to follow in Scott Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden. Brown's Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mr. Alfred Jiles, Jr. with arrangements.

The threat of a wintry mix is closing all Kershaw County School District (KCSD) schools and offices Monday, according to an e-mail sent to the media by KCSD Communications Director Mary Anne Byrd just after 6 p.m. Sunday.

The city of Camden posted the following message on Facebook early Sunday evening: All City of Camden offices, including the Archives and Museum, will be closed tomorrow, Monday January 10th. All police, fire and utility emergency personnel will work. Please call (803) 432-6045 to report any electric outages. Call 911 in the event of an emergency. The County of Kershaw posted the following message on Facebook Sunday afternoon: All County Government Offices, Recycle Centers, and Landfill will be closed on Monday, January 10th 2011 due to Inclement Weather.
