Katherine Hurt Richardson, deputy director of the Camden Archives and Museum, will be the guest speaker at the fifth annual Baruch Society Members' Dinner, scheduled for Nov. 15 at the National Steeplechase Museum in Camden. She is currently developing an exhibit chronicling KershawHealth's 100-year history. The exhibit will premiere when KershawHealth officially celebrates its centennial in April 2013. At the dinner, Richardson plans to focus on the hospital's early years and the critical role Bernard Baruch played in establishing and sustaining it.

Camden First United Methodist Church will be celebrating its annual "Friends of the First" service on Sunday at 11 a.m. This is a special day of worship and we have asked the congregation to extend invitations to family and friends. Absentee voting statewide and in Kershaw County hit an all-time high this election cycle as more than 375,000 South Carolinians cast their ballots before Election Day. Kershaw County Voting Registration Director Rosalind Watson estimated absentee voting in the county this year nearly doubled that of the 2010 election.

Dear Annie: I am 17 years old, and I have a younger sister who is 13. Her attitude is awful. I have to drive her to school every day, and we always get into fights. She constantly criticizes my driving and puts me down. She also calls me a lot of names and says hurtful things. We even got into a physical fight.
The 18th annual Marion DuPont Scott Colonial Cup 10K Road Race and BlueCross BlueShield 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site, to benefit those receiving services from the Kershaw County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.
Mrs. Clara Nelson Wood, 90, of 530 Longtown Rd, Lugoff, SC passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was a graduate of Benedict College and she retired as a teacher from the Kershaw County Public School System. Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 26, 2015 at Sutton Branch Baptist Church, 420 Sutton Branch Road, Lugoff, with interment in the church cemetery. Public viewing was Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2-7 p.m.
Mr. Terry Anthony Pough, 39, of 1463 Wells Road, Camden, South Carolina passed on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be anounced at a later date by Nelson-Haile Funeral Home.
Mr. Milton Jones, 78, of 225 Crescent Circle, Camden, South Carolina passed on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, June 27 in New Hope Baptist Church, Bishopville. The family will be receiving friends at the home.
Memorial services for Milton Loman Griswold, age 50, of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, Georgia will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 3 p.m.from Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Anthony Rabern officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 1-3 p.m.
Funeral services for Douglas Matthew "Doug" Gordon, 42, will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Malvern Hill Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Buster Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the American Heart Association.
