Betty L. Speedy

Betty L. Speedy passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She was born on December 24, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Gracie B. Atkins Alspaugh and the late Loyd Alspaugh. She worked for the United Sates Government in Arlington, Virginia before moving to South Carolina where she lived in Columbia, Camden and Mt. Pleasant.

George William “Bill” Supplee

George William "Bill" Supplee died peacefully on Thursday, October 30, in Camden, SC, at the age of ninety. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Tucker Supplee of Camden, SC, children Tucker (Carrie) Supplee of Muskegon, MI, Bonnie (Steve Garrett) Supplee of Atlanta, GA and Donny (Sharon) Supplee of Camden, SC, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Supplee Jongewaard of Wesley, IA, Jean Supplee Crider of State College, PA, and a brother, Robert Lamberton Supplee of Orange City, IA.

Lessons scary movies have taught us

LIFELESSONSVILLE -- Halloween is a time for candy, fun and scaring yourself to death. We love watching movies that leave us wide-eyed and incapable of sleep. Why, you ask? I have no idea. But I also don't know why we insist on eating bacon on everything, even though it will kill us. Sure it's delicious, but we know it's building a dam of lard and deliciousness to our heart, but we do it anyway. I feel like I've strayed off topic, but it's bacon. There's always time to talk about bacon.
