Waffle House fire

Around 9:40 p.m. Dec. 22, the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) was dispatched to a structural fire at the Waffle House restaurant on U.S. 601 in Lugoff. MHAKC presents special awards at annual membership meeting

Mental Health America of Kershaw County held its 48th annual membership dinner meeting, Nov. 11, in the fellowship center at First Baptist in Camden. The speaker was John Brown, a mental health specialist and an Episcopal priest who is a chaplain with Columbia Area Mental Health Clinic. He was introduced by Richard Guess, executive director of Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center in Sumter.

The University of South Carolina (USC) Libraries is now home to a collection of more than 5,000 images, plus correspondence, sketchbooks, and even early elementary-school artwork Camden's Oscar Jackson "Jak" Smyrl, The State newspaper's first staff artist, who passed away in 2007.
