Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week

There will be a county-wide food drive at local supermarkets on Friday and Saturday, November 16-17. Canned and nonperishable food donations will re-stock local food pantries and soup kitchens, which are seeing greater numbers of people in need this year.

LFD battles large truck fire near I-20

The Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) responded to a major tractor trailer fire around 1:15 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 601 at I-20. Engine 10 and Engine 9 from Lugoff Fire responded with career and volunteer fire crews. Crews arrived on the scene to find a van-type tractor-trailer on fire with the truck cab fully involved in fire. Firefighters quickly shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 601and began fighting the fire. Dear Annie: Recently, my husband mentioned that he wanted to get together with some friends for a project. I encouraged him to invite the guys to our home to work on it. I thought it would be a few hours, but it ended up taking well over 12. They arrived early in the morning and stayed until late that night, taking over our living room.
