Library to host Grammy winning duo

Saturday at 6 p.m., the Camden Branch of the Kershaw County Library will open for a special performance of The Okee Dokee Brothers, a Minneapolis, Minn. based folk duo. The show is free and open to all ages, with a family focus.

No biology teacher

I have taught many subjects, for some of which I certainly did not have certification, such as speech, debate and mathematics. I have even been pressed into emergency teacher status for a special education class and the band. Each one of the preceding two could have a paper printed about the experience. However, the one I feared most and the one the students really wanted me to do was become their teacher for the sex education part of the biology class!

Sending our tax dollars outside of Kershaw County

A local businessman asked me the other day how things went for us at the Cup. I told him that we were told by the Camden Police Department that our services would not be needed so we concentrated on DUI enforcement after the race and the results were good. We only made two DUI arrests, but a lot of open container violations were cited and we wrote a lot of warning tickets.
