Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested Jonathan Edgar Sandoval, 23, of Cassatt, Thursday, charging him with criminal sexual conduct with a minor after positively determining he fathered a child with a 14-year-old girl.
During the Lugoff Fire Board of Commissioners' Oct. 22 meeting, members recognized the Lugoff Fire Explorer Post for placing first in the Team Midnight Alarm Explorer Competition and third in the Team Gear Donning Competition at the annual Fire Fest held in Camden Sept. 29. • With election day upon us, there's one final sad fact to report: lawyers for both parties are mobilizing, ready to start flinging lawsuits. In Ohio alone, thousands of attorneys are standing by; we're reminded a bit of those ads for prescription drugs in which a somber announcer tells viewers there's a pretty good chance they have a disease they might not even know about. Actually, having a legal fight would be an appropriate though mournful way to end what has probably been the most down-and-dirty fight American voters have seen.
The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) and Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) are proud to present Fame Jr., a Camden Community Theatre production, Nov. 8-11 in the Wood Auditorium. The Thursday through Saturday evening shows start at 7 p.m., and the Sunday matinee begins at 3 p.m.. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors and military. At about 6 a.m. on October 18, 1950, a baby girl was born in the Camden Hospital. Her parents lived in Kershaw County during the Great Depression and World War II and were members of Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation."

Mrs. Clara Nelson Wood, 90, of 530 Longtown Rd, Lugoff, SC passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was a graduate of Benedict College and she retired as a teacher from the Kershaw County Public School System. Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 26, 2015 at Sutton Branch Baptist Church, 420 Sutton Branch Road, Lugoff, with interment in the church cemetery. Public viewing was Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2-7 p.m.
