Not too elastic

By now, everyone is accustomed to being bombarded by different presidential polls that purport to indicate how the race between President Obama and Mitt Romney is going. Many of these focus on the so-called swing states -- those that are still up in the air and will probably decide the election. But political analyst Nate Silver, who's been extremely accurate in predicting political goings-on in the past, has a new measure, and South Carolina ranks at the very top.

During these past two years, I've had the opportunity to observe and capture many moments of nature up close as I prune young trees, perform tree exams and/or water our newly planted trees. County man charged with criminal sexual conduct, incest

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested a 35-year-old county man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter. In order to protect the victim's identity, the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is not releasing the suspect's name.

LFD welcomes kids back to school

As Kershaw County Schools opened its doors to students Monday, the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) was there for the third year in a row with their fire trucks at two elementary schools early in the morning as students returned to class. Both an engine and ladder truck were sent from LFD headquarters to Wateree and Lugoff elementary Schools Monday morning as parents and buses brought students back to school on the nervous "first day".
