Devin W. Bracey graduates from basic combat training

During nine weeks of training, Army Pvt. Devin W. Bracey studied the army mission, history, tradition and core values. He also studied physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat. He also studied map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises during training.

Editorial: Obama and France

The relationship between the United States and France since World War II, when American soldiers saved the country, has sometimes been tense. The French have a tendency towards arrogance, and this often afflicts its leaders; certainly, Kershaw County residents who have visited Paris have seen "French attitude" first-hand among city denizens and businesspeople. Those who live in the countryside are generally more welcome and still appreciative of the long friendship between the two countries.

Letter: Graham’s ‘pain capable’ bill unconstitutional

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has promised to introduce his "Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act" in the Senate in the next few weeks. This is an unconstitutional attack on women's rights and healthcare. In 1973, the Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, allowed women to terminate a pregnancy based on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. That amendment guarantees the right to privacy. It is the law of the land.
