Building homes, providing hope and making the community stronger

Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County completed construction on its 34th home in the county last week and will begin working on its 35th home very soon. Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. The oroganization helps initiate partnerships between qualified families and community members, working together towards building a home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, at New Beginnings Restoration Ministries, formerly Great Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Jerry Catledge officiating. Civil War author to visit Camden

Dr. T. Felder Dorn will be at Books on Broad, 944 Broad St., in Camden, October 8, from 5:30 - 7 .p.m to autograph copies of his book, Challenges on the Emmaus Road: Episcopal Bishops Confront Slavery, Civil War, and Emancipation.

This book, which will be released this month by the University of South Carolina Press, covers the period 1840 – 1875 and examines the words and actions of Episcopal bishops of that era, first concerning slavery and then concerning the momentous events and issues spawned by that institution.
