Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Calypso, a 6-month-old female lab mix and Angelica is a 3-month-old female domestic shorthaired kitten. ‘Fire Stop’ extinguisher puts out kitchen fire

Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) crews arrived at the scene of a reported kitchen fire at Sherwood Apartments around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to find only a light haze of smoke, but no fire. According to a LF-R press release, an automatic fire extinguisher magnetically attached to the stove hood had activated and extinguished the grease fire before it spread into the rest of the kitchen and apartment.
