Mr. Marion "Mack" Bradford, 76, of 707 George Wright Street, Camden, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Born in Boykin, he was the son the late Dan, Sr. and Pearl Hampton Bradford. Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Broom Hill Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery with military honors, Rembert. Mr. Bradford will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. for viewing. Brown's Funeral Home, Camden, is serving the family.

The Boykin Spaniel Society, official breed registry for the South Carolina State Dog, is donating $500 to a reward fund established by St. Francis Animal Center in Georgetown for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for the torture and death of a Boykin Spaniel and Labrador Retriever whose bodies were discovered dumped in the International Paper Co. Canal on Brick Chimney Road on July 5. Donations to the fund now total more than $5,000 and it is hoped that the reward will entice someone to step forward with information. The efforts of our members add up to millions of hours and millions of dollars annually in service of the Auxiliary's mission. Born in Lee County, he was the son of the late Richard Forman, Sr. and Priscilla Lewis Forman Haggins. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late James Epps, Sr. and Goldie Rucker Sydnor and husband of Josephine Johnson Sydnor. Kathryn Hewitt became pregnant at 15. Her mother was determined that she wouldn't become a statistic, so Hewitt continued her education and went on to college while raising her son. It was extremely challenging, the Camden native recalls, and on more than one occasion she thought she couldn't do it … but she did.
