Funeral service for William A. "Bill" Dickey, 65, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Joyner, Dan Joyner, Kyle Dickey, James M. Clyburn, Stephen Mays, Louis Clyburn III, and Scott Moore. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or New Life Christian Outreach Building Fund.

Cancer screening

We wrote recently of a change in the way KershawHealth is managing its emergency department, sending seriously threatened patients to one area for immediate, vital care while directing others who are less ill to be treated in a non-emergency system. It's cost-effective, but also provides quality care for both types of patients.

Rec Notes: Trick or Treat Trail offers family fun

The Kershaw County Recreation Department along with SAFE Federal Credit Union and Kimbrell's Furniture will host Trick or Treat Trail, a "Boostastic time for the whole family" today from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rhame City Arena located on 517 Broad Street. These animals are looking for homes

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Rufus, a 2-year-old male Dachshund and Sonny, a 1-year-old neutered male domestic long haired cat. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
