According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of "disheartening" is as follows: transient verb: "to cause to lose spirit or morale." In a recent city council session, Mayor (Jeffrey) Graham claimed that Councilman Polk's continuous demand for answers regarding the YMCA project were "disheartening." I beg to differ with Mayor Graham's statement, as I do not feel that this exchange quite fits into the above-stated definition, particularly since we are talking about millions of taxpayers' dollars on what many feel to be an unnecessary project -- particularly in this poor economy. I feel that it is the peoples' right ...
Business leaders from across the United States -- ranging from Wall Street monarchs to small-town family business owners -- barraged Congress earlier this week with the same message that many Americans would like to send: quit arguing and get something done about the debt ceiling and then the long-term fiscal discipline of this country. News reports indicate that a concerted effort from business people across the spectrum was aimed at Washington -- ironically, much of it toward Republican lawmakers who have benefited from business contributions in the past.

Dear Annie: Five months ago, I begged my sister to move in with me to get her away from her abusive boyfriend. It took some convincing and tough love, but she finally ceased contact with him completely. Three months after she moved in, my fiance and I found out that we were expecting a baby. We set a wedding date, and he moved in immediately.

Recently, I attended the Congress on Healthcare Leadership presented by the American College of Healthcare Executives, and I was most impressed by one presentation: Building the New Healthcare Delivery System. In particular, I was struck by the fact that healthcare executives from across the country were focused almost exclusively on this new world of healthcare and its impact on how the organizations they lead are designed.
She was not a pretty woman in the days of her youth. Her lips were too thin, her forehead too high and her eyes so round that they seemed to bulge into the lens of the glasses she wore.
The road diet -- what a mistake. Even the mayor admits it could be a mistake. When the mayor was running for office he led me to believe that he was against the Broad Street diet. Two years later, he has flipped his opinion about the diet project. The mayor's vote, along with two of the previous council members, is what placed this mistake in motion. The urgency for the vote was to apply for a grant. A grant is federal tax dollars and not free money as some believe. This type of attitude is one of the reasons our ...
