For students who are unable to participate, the Kershaw County School District provides virtual job shadowing activities in the classroom. The job shadowing experience can be an enriching one, and we hope ...

• A tip of the C-I hat to Kershaw County Deputy Fred Tiah, a school resource officer at Stover Middle School in Elgin. Tiah, as we reported Friday, is from Liberia, one of the hardest-hit countries in this year's Ebola crisis. Recognizing he has been welcomed to and is finding success in America, Tiah says he wants to help children in his native country who have been orphaned by the deadly disease. From an organizational standpoint, it will provide access to best practices and strategies to improve the quality of care provided, enhance ...
I applaud the Chronicle-Independent for front page coverage of the dropping of charges against Mr. Sammie Tucker. All too often, especially in larger media markets, good news is relegated to the back pages, while sensational news makes the front page. I believe our community newspaper makes a concerted effort to report the news as it happens and, more importantly, reports good news.
