Every year the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proclaims April as Fair Housing Month. The purpose of this designation is to celebrate the passage of the Fair Housing Act in 1968. During this month HUD reaches out to the public with the message that "every person has the right to equal choices in housing." In the same way, the city of Camden wants the public to be knowledgeable about fair housing and related practices by defining fair housing, stating what it protects and describing why it's important.

The Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah Fire Department (BMPFD) recent received a $60,430 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. The department will utilize this funding to upgrade portable radio equipment.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is citing seven convenience stores, grocery stores and gas stations for selling either alcohol or tobacco to minors. The KCSO conducted Alcohol Enforcement (AET) compliance checks Monday on numerous stores as part of a continuing effort to keep such products out of the hands of Kershaw County minors.
