Former deputy acting as Bethune chief

A former Kershaw County Sheriff's Office deputy has been acting as Bethune's police chief since not long after the late Larry Davis resigned following his diagnosis of terminal cancer in February. Bethune Town Clerk Janice Hunter confirmed former deputy Jimmy Miller is acting as chief on a temporary basis.

Pets of the Week - May 22, 2015

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Annie, a 2-year-old female domestic shorthaired cat, and Wheat, a 2-year-old male yellow lab mix dog. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
