Sixteen middle school students participated in the Applied Technology Education Campus's (ATEC) first summer camp in July. ATEC will host the summer camp annually to give middle school students and their parents the opportunity to familiarize themselves with what ATEC has to offer. The two-day event highlighted four ATEC programs: agriculture, commercial art, graphics and welding. ATEC Director Chet Horton said he hopes the camp participants will be ambassadors for the school by helping get the word out about the summer camp and ATEC's class options for high school students. KCSD seniors score all-time high on ACT

Kershaw County 2013 seniors' average composite score on the ACT college entrance exam increased three-tenths of a point, reaching an all-time district high while outperforming the state's public school students in all four test areas.

Thomas Earl Rasberry

Funeral services for Thomas Earl Rasberry, 70, will be held Monday at 12:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Joe Stines and The Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 11-12 at the church.
