Geraghty closes in on McCarthy after Parx

Petticoats Loose Farm's Choral Society completed his successful transition to steeplechase racing on Tuesday, July 1, when he made a strong run through Parx Racing's stretch and won a $30,000 allowance hurdle by two lengths over Easy Reach. Ross Geraghty rode Choral Society, who had won his maiden victory over fences at Monmouth Park on June 13.

CASSATT – Funeral service for Donald Albertus "Red Dog" Truesdale, 67, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Mendle Thomas "Tommy" Hoffman, Sr. 81, passed away June 12, 2014. He was born and lived most of his life in Columbia SC until he moved to Swansea, SC in 2008. CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Lewis Calvin Holland, Sr., 71, will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Ronnie Holland will officiate. CHS ’83 grad retires from Air Force

Air Force Col. Charles Houston Myers, son of Charles and Barbara Myers of Camden, recently retired from active military service with more than 26 years dedicated to the nation. Brig. Gen. Albert "Buck" Elton presided over Myers' retirement ceremony at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Myers is a 1983 graduate of Camden High School and a 1987 graduate of The Citadel.
