Scully: Black History Month

This community witnesses all-encompassing friendships among people of different educational backgrounds, income levels, and races. For some people, however, when it comes to race, the glass remains half-empty; they find it hard to move on from a difficult and painful past. Many others, to the contrary, celebrate our emergence as a nation that reflects all God's children and gives hope that persons from different backgrounds can combine energies and ideas to create a spectacular new culture, as we are doing.

Knights qualify 13 wrestlers into AA Upper State tourney: North Central, which won the Region 4-AA wrestling championship with an 11-1 record, received a championship performances from Mason Gomez at 113 pounds and Tyler Small (152), in qualifying 13 wrestlers into the AA Upper State individual tournament on Feb. 21.

L-EMS wrestlers win conference tourney

The Lugoff-Elgin Middle School wrestling team capped off its 2014-15 season by successfully defending its championship in the second annual West Wateree Athletic Conference Tournament which was held Saturday at L-EMS.

Miss Black & Gold 2015

The Miss Gold and Black Pageants will be held on Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th. Both pageants begin at 7 p.m. in the Camden High Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at Camden High School. The theme for the pageants is "On Broadway." Highlights of the events will be the crowning of Junior Miss Gold and Black on Friday night, Miss Gold and Black on Saturday, Mr. Camden Bulldog on Saturday night, and a performance by the Camden High Gospel Choir at both pageants.
