FATZ, a restaurant located at 212 Wall Street in Camden, will be hosting a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 11 to help support the LCSC Kershaw 95 girls' soccer team. As part of the company's Short Stacks for Big Change campaign, proceeds from the breakfast will be used to offset the cost of tournaments, fees, and lodging for the team.

Mr. Albert Leslie Hare, 94, of Statesville, died Sunday at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born in Kershaw County, S.C. He was a son of the late John David Hare and Etta Mae Hornsby Hare. I write this letter in response to an article in your paper entitled "Episcopal Church is right to recognize gay unions." Kershaw County Council Chairman Gene Wise is right in recommending to council members that they thoroughly vet people before placing them on the board of directors of KershawHealth. Lugoff Fire-Rescue (LF-R) crews arrived at the scene of a reported kitchen fire at Sherwood Apartments around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to find only a light haze of smoke, but no fire. According to a LF-R press release, an automatic fire extinguisher magnetically attached to the stove hood had activated and extinguished the grease fire before it spread into the rest of the kitchen and apartment.
