CHS state champs returning to the court

Camden High School will host a "5 on 5 from 10 to 10" basketball marathon to be played on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. inside the school's Gym. School clubs will play on a rotating basis throughout the day. The event will conclude with an alumni game at 7 p.m. featuring members of Bulldogs' 2008-09 AAA state championship team.

Gunn: LiveWell Kershaw

Partnerships are powerful, and I can think of few better examples than LiveWell Kershaw. This collaboration connects KershawHealth, the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina, the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County, Access Kershaw, and a host of other local agencies in an innovative initiative to make Kershaw County the healthiest county in South Carolina, and to become a model for other communities across South Carolina and the nation. It's a huge goal, but one worthy of the pursuit.

Habitat ReStore auctions doll house

The Habitat ReStore is auctioning off a doll house to assist building houses for families in need in Kershaw County. The doll house and its' furniture were hand made by Marion and Bill Tripp of Camden in the 1980s. The needlepoint rugs in the house were made by their sister. To see and bid on the house visit the Habitat Store at 1019 Broad Street, Camden. Submit bids at the register, bids start at $250. The auction will last until Feb. 28.

Clyde Jones

A celebration of life for Clyde M. Jones, 82, will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John Hallman will officiate. Rec Notes - Feb. 6, 2015

Spring Baseball and Fast Pitch registration is coming to a close, with last day to register being Friday, February 13 for boys ages 4 - 19 and girls ages 4 - 18 (age by May 1, 2015). Pets of the Week - Feb. 6, 2015

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Nellie, a 9-week-old female German shepherd mix, and Tipsy, a 1-1/2-year-old female domestic short-haired tabby cat. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
