GOP not quite dead

If you depended on the national media for all your information, you'd get the idea that it's going to be clear sailing for Democrats in years to come; most metro papers and network news operations purport to be unbiased but in reality are shills for the national Democratic Party. And it's true that the GOP hasn't done well in recent presidential elections, and changing demographics in the country are producing more voters who traditionally fall into the Democrats' constituency.

Charles Fyon

1927-2014. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend after a brief illness at the age of 86. He will be greatly missed by his loving friend Elisabeth Koening, his 6 children and 10 adoring grandchildren. He will be joining his late daughter Joanna and his late wife Winnifred. During his life he was involved in hockey, tennis and most importantly golf. He spent the last 34 years partially in South Carolina and was a great friend to many here in Montreal and at Lake Manitou, his summer residence.

NCHS receives SCAC grant

North Central High School (NCHS) recently received a $750 grant from the S.C. Arts Commission (SCAC) for the 2014 fiscal year. The support, funded in part by the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, will allow NCHS to expand its visual arts program by purchasing a kiln for firing ceramics.
