After years of fan discontent over the lack of a playoff system in college football, it appears that progress is finally being made toward establishing some sort of playoff that will involve at least four teams and possibly more. Over many seasons, since the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) was established, college football's power brokers steadfastly refused to admit that a controversial system of picking two teams to play for the national championship had any weaknesses. They wanted to protect the current bowl system and they displayed a blind eye to fans' calls for a playoff.

Dr. Zenola Benjamin Blanding, 62, of Williamstown, NJ, formally of Camden, SC, passed on April 20, 2012 after an extended illness. Dr. Blanding is the son of the late Willie Blanding, Sr. and Jessie Gilyard Blanding. He was raisedby Dea. Esau and Helen B. mcLeod and his grandmother, Mattie S. Blanding. Services will be held in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Playing keep away with the Region 3-A boys' track championship trophy, North Central kept the hardware in Boonetown as the Knights won the conference title for the second time in as many years by winning Tuesday's championship meet which they hosted.
Mrs. Clara Nelson Wood, 90, of 530 Longtown Rd, Lugoff, SC passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was a graduate of Benedict College and she retired as a teacher from the Kershaw County Public School System. Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 26, 2015 at Sutton Branch Baptist Church, 420 Sutton Branch Road, Lugoff, with interment in the church cemetery. Public viewing was Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2-7 p.m.
