Barrie Patrick Winch

Barrie "Sarge" Patrick Winch, 67, of Camden, passed this life on June 17, 2011 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on November 28, 1943 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Roy and Irene Winch. He married Laura Jane Chapman of Lancaster, South Carolina on September 20, 1964. Barrie joined the U.S. Army in January 1960 and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded three Bronze Star Medals and numerous other awards and decorations. Camden Junior Welfare League announces scholarship winners

The Camden Junior Welfare League announces its 2011 scholarship recipients. This scholarship is awarded to three seniors in Kershaw County that plan to pursue careers in a "helping" profession. These high school seniors will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to help pay for college expenses. Recipients included Julia Belton of Lugoff-Elgin High School, Haylee Gause of Camden High School and Anna Rollings of the Governor's School. The Camden League offers scholarships annually and interested seniors should contact their guidance department for more information
