Funeral Services for Ted Allen Wood, 55, will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at James Chapel AME Church with burial in the church cemetery. A Viewing was held Tuesday, July 3 1 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Another viewing will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rescue group does more thanks to grants

Kershaw County-based Dog4U Inc. Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is pleased to announce the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (ASPCA) sponsorship through a grant award of $1,000 in support of its equine program. The grant award will help alleviate a third of Dog4U's hay costs for the 10 horses under its care for 2012.

KCSO arrests three in drive-by shooting case

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) deputies arrested three people between Tuesday and Friday in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place Tuesday. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said deputies arrested one of the suspects Friday and the other two earlier in the week.

Tokens were small cardboard, brass, copper or aluminum items, usually in the shape of coins, which were issued by private enterprise ventures such as textile mills, merchants, etc. These items took the place of coins and were redeemable at the issuing entity. • With partisan bickering in Washington at an all-time high, we were glad to see Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah turn back a Republican Party primary challenge last week. Hatch is one of the few senators left in the capital who attempts to compromise and reach across party aisles to get things done. We're glad the voters of Utah put him over the top, for in that state, winning the GOP primary is usually tantamount to being elected.
