KershawHealth centennial marks a continued sacred trust

The celebration of KershawHealth's centennial year is an excellent time to take stock and focus for the future. As always, the starting point must be our mission -- providing excellent care for everyone in Kershaw County, a mission that has remained unchanged for 100 years. Noted and passed - Feb. 11, 2013

• A story detailing the closing of Home Furnishing Co. in Camden appeared in this newspaper last week; the store is shutting down after 93 years in business. Founded by Gus Beleos and run for decades by his son, Likie, and his wife, Connie, the store was for years an anchor in the downtown Camden business community. Such locally owned establishments are falling by the wayside, not only here but across the country. We wish the Beleoses the best in their retirement.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Patricia Ann Daly, 62, was held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Funeral service for Ronald Wilson, 68, of 1818 Redwood Street, Charleston, formerly of Camden, will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, 2 p.m. Sanders Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Wilson died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. Friends may visit 2366 Tickle Hill Road. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Vincent Davis

Charles Vincent "Charlie" Davis, 66, of Kirkwood Community, Camden, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. Born in Camden he was the son of the late Betty Davis and the husband of the late Henrietta Davis. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Saint Matthew Baptist Church, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, Monday. Mr. Davis will be palced int he church at 1 p.m. for viewing. Brown's Funeral Home, Camden, is serving the Davis family.
