Adopting an older pet

There's no mistaking it, baby pets are adorable and many grow up to become magnificent companions. Unfortunately pet owners often forget the trouble involved with raising a pet from infancy, and overlook the countless mature dogs awaiting adoption from shelters and rescue organizations.

Adopt a Highway

My family and I just went through one of the toughest moments any family will have to endure. We lost our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, aunt, sister and dear friend, Sandra Anderson, on May 6, 2013, to cancer. We as a family were devastated and wanted to do something to commemorate the passion and love she had for people and life. We decided to Adopt a Highway in her honor. We chose Elliott Hunter Road in Cassatt as our road of choice, since this was on the way to our Mom's house.

But over the last 60 years, one thing's been constant: the allure of the Corvette, which began in a humdrum fashion but became a "hot" car when it was redesigned into the Stingray in the 1960s. The Corvette, recast for 2014, is still a head-turner.

Brothers

A girl who does not have a brother never receives a thorough education. For example, when I saw that my brother never had to do odious chores such as cooking, washing dishes, ironing or whatever, I determined to do all I could to become a boy. My brother cooperated in many ways; for one, he said if I kissed my elbow, I would magically become male, this chore keeping me from following him around since he was my god. Also, he assured me, if I would be salt on a bird's tail, I could catch it with ease. Finding ...
