Corrections and clarifications

A story Wednesday titled "Court ruling could leave candidates off ballots" should have indicated House District 52 candidate Kim Demer was ruled ineligible to be on the ballot. Kershaw County Republican Party Chairman Chris Oviatt said Demer did not file her statement of economic interest by the deadline set by the Election Commission. House District 52 candidate David Herndon has been ruled eligible to remain on the ballot.

Camden Elementary School wins Clinic Classic Challenge

This is the second year that McDonald's has sponsored the Clinic Classic Challenge, which benefits the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County. The challenge is open to students age 12 and younger as part of the Clinic Classic. The school with the most participants, such as students, teachers, family members, school nurses, etc., who come out for the challenge are presented with a $500 check. Kershaw County Confederate Veterans to be honored Saturday at Rectory Square

In observance of Confederate Memorial Day, the Joseph B. Kershaw Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the John D. Kennedy Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will hold a memorial service Saturday, at 1 p.m., at the Pantheon in Rectory Square in Camden.

Camden Garden Club to host ‘the Lusty Month of May’ Monday

The Camden Garden Club will hold its last meeting of the season on Monday at the home of Sandy Shull. The program will be on Garden Restoration. The speaker will be David Simpson who is the director of grounds for Historic Columbia. He will talk about Columbia's Garden Restoration Project and also their Children's Garden Project. With Camden being so historic and many old homes and plantations, both topics will be very interesting and hopefully there will be enough time!
