As a result of the information security breach at the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) that was detected on October 10, 2012, the Social Security numbers and business tax identification numbers of approximately 3.6 million South Carolinians have been compromised.
After having opened the season with 17 consecutive losses, the North Central girls' basketball team snapped a skid of more 19 games, dating back to last February, with a 51-37 win over visiting Pelion on Friday night inside The Castle in Boonetown.

Vincent Sheheen of Camden, who's been chosen to attend the Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership program, which is conducted by the Aspen Institute, a public policy think tank based in Washington, D.C., and not in Colorado, as its name might lead some to believe. The program annually brings together 24 elected officials from around the country, and one of the things it encourages is civil dialogue and bipartisan cooperation, two things which are in short supply in politics today.

James and Betty Greer of Camden recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married on January 22, 1988 and celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Wateree Lake Campground. Their family and friends honored them with a 25th anniversary plaque and a surprise dinner party at Old South Restaurant on January 27,2012.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Jim R. Rogers will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday for Kershaw County, along with Fairfield and Newberry counties. The hazard types include freezing rain and sleet, but only expect ice accumulations of less than .05 inch. Rain will freeze on contact in locations below freezing and lead to hazardous travel conditions. Bridges and overpasses will be especially vulnerable to ice accumulation. Temperatures are expected to be in the lower 30s overnight.
