Landslide to take stage for Finally Friday at the Fine Arts Center

Lift-off for butterflies

For more than 100 years, the Clemson Extension Service staff has transferred science-based information to individuals and families across South Carolina. Part of the centennial celebration in Kershaw County included the planting of butterfly gardens at Bethune (BES) and Mt. Pisgah Elementary (MPE) Schools. A following celebration included awards to students participating in the Healthy Lifestyles and Environmental Conservation Clubs and the release of 100 caterpillars into the butterfly gardens.

The Kershaw County School District (KCSD) has announced its end-of-year schedule. Parents should note that there are no more school holidays between now and the end of the school year. Monday, May 26 is a regular school day to make up a day missed earlier in the school year for inclement weather.

Bug and Toto need homes

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are Toto, a 3-month-old female Shar Pei mix who also has a litter mates available and Bug, a 2-month-old male kitten who is very sweet, loving and playful. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. KH Foundation, CCRA jointly fund $1.02 million nurse call project

The KershawHealth Foundation Board of Directors unanimously approved a more than $675,000 grant to KershawHealth at its May 20 meeting. The grant, along with $345,000 worth of cumulative gifts from the Carolina Cup Racing Association (CCRA) from the last four years, will help fund a new $1.02 million nurse call system.
