James David Ray

David Ray, son of the late Angus and Annie Ray, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, after a brief illness. He is survived by his partner, Artie Folk; brothers and sisters, Rendel Ray, Elaine Robertson (Bruce), Roger Ray, Charles Ray, Benny Ray (Vivian), Debbie Blackwell (Jim); and twenty three nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Susie Moseley and Goldie Moseley.

Special Movie Screening

Sylvia (Sibby) Wood and Sarah duPont invite community members to the screening of Amazon Gold, an Amazon Aid Foundation Production in association with Americas Business Council Foundation on Saturday. The film will begin at 7 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County. Admission to the screening is free of charge.

• There's a bit of confusion and disagreement among Camden City Council members and officials about just how quickly the development process for the former Maxway building site should move, but one thing is clear: without any improvement at all, the site already looks better than it did when the rotting building stood there. It will be interesting to see what finally happens, but we'll offer a tip of the hat to council members for proceeding with the demolition.

Gilbert and Crocker united in marriage

Neely Catherine Gilbert and John Thomas Crocker were united in marriage on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at five o'clock in the afternoon. The outdoor ceremony was held behind DeBordieu Clubhouse overlooking the marsh in Georgetown, SC. It was officiated by the Reverend Martha Hedgepeth of Christ Episcopal Church in Charlotte, NC. A reception hosted by the bride's parents followed the ceremony at the DeBordieu Clubhouse.
