Funeral service for Sylvester "Vest" Bush, 80, of Ridgeway, will be held (today) Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Mount Joshua United Methodist Church, with burial in church cemetery, Ridgeway. Mr. Bush will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. for viewing.

Column sarcastic, offensive

I have enjoyed the Chronicle-Independent for years, especially the editorial pages. Our local paper has some very talented writers and I look forward to reading these columns each issue. I was appalled with Trevor Baratko's column in the April 13 paper. He is a very talented young man; however, my opinion of him as a person is completely changed now. Does he really think that the rules don't apply to everyone and that it is OK to lie as long as you "lie convincingly"? And the sarcasm of the article referring to the Masters did not go unnoticed ...

Student raises money for charity

On St. Patrick's Day Anthony Sheheen (second from right), age 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Sheheen, gave $220 each to Camden Elementary School and the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter. This was money he raised by having a yard sale a few days earlier. Ed Yount (middle), CES principal along with representatives from the shelter stand with Anthony.
