Funeral service for Eloise Roberts Robinson, of Cassatt, 77, will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Cassatt Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Don Coppedge, Rev. Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are a 1-year-old male tabby cat and an 11-week-old male Boykin Spaniel puppy. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Local schools 'make the grade'

For the first time since implementation of the state report cards in 2001, 100 percent of the Absolute ratings issued for the Kershaw County School District and all of its schools are Excellent, Good or Average. Statewide, 85 percent of high schools achieved this level for Absolute ratings and 82 percent for elementary and middle schools.

Stover Middle School band honors

The Leslie M. Stover Middle School Band program reports an outstanding season. The band began the year with a successful winter concert performance, which featured instrumental soloists and seasonal music. This year, 50 Stover band students won chairs in the All-Region Band, more than any other school in the region. The school also had six students win chairs in the prestigious All-State Band: (bass clarinetist) Andrew Place; (snare) Andrew Walker; (trumpet alternate) Ansley Potter; (trumpet alternate) Erin Blizzard; (trombone alternate) Jessica Lumpkin; and (tuba alternate) Amber Vance.
