Memorial service to celebrate the life of Carl Edward Huggins, 86, of Cassatt will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Hermitage Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Condy Richardson will officiate. The burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military rites. Thelma Harris

Thelma Louise Brannon Harris, age 89, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away Sunday afternoon, January 9, 2011. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 69 years, Raymond C. Knights hold off CHS for second time

Among the animals available for adoption at the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter are a 1-year-old calico cat and a 10-week-old hound mix puppy. The adoption donation includes spaying or neutering. The shelter, located at the south end of Fair Street and managed by the Kershaw County Humane Society, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Twice as nice

James "Foots" Hasty of Camden, won the Twin Lakes Bass Masters Fishing Tour for the second time in as many years. Formerly known as the DuPont Fishing Club more than 20 years ago, the circuit fishes a different lake each month. In 2010, Hasty had a total haul which weighed in at 63 pounds, 11 ounces. He nearly reeled in the big fish in the circuit for the second consecutive time, losing that crown by a single ounce.
