Crime Report - Oct. 3, 2012

In recent weeks, at least one Kershaw County resident reported receiving several telephone calls from someone claiming they were from the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO). The caller advised the resident that the KCSO had warrants for her arrest for bad checks and that she needed to send money to clear up the situation.

An man armed with a semi-automatic weapon entered the Dollar General in Elgin just before 8 p.m. Sept. 27, demanding money. The Elgin Police Department (EPD) and Crimestoppers are now asking for the public's help in identifying the man.

KCFLA to meet Oct. 15

Lugoff man charged with passing counterfeit currency

South Carolina U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles announced Tuesday that a federal grand jury returned an indictment against a Kershaw County man for passing counterfeit currency.

Syderas R. Kelley-Sanders

Syderas R. Sanders, 82, widow of Roy Sanders, reunited with the Lord September 30, 2012. Mrs. Sanders was a retired educator, having taught many of those years in Greer and Elgin. She was a gifted musician and church organist at Blaney Baptist Church, where she was a lifetime member. She was a graduate of Anderson Jr. College in 1949 and Furman University in 1951, where she double majored in music and education. Was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Society-Alpha Alpha Chapter on both local and state levels.
