17ers host Sumter in tonight's home opener

After having opened its season on Thursday night in Manning, the Kershaw County Post 17 Senior American Legion baseball team will kick off their home schedule tonight when Sumter comes to American Legion Park in Camden.

Two men allegedly stole while victims slept

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) investigators arrested two male suspects, one a juvenile, after they allegedly entered a home in East Camden while the occupants slept and stole an iPhone, car keys and a small quantity of cash. These items had been on the night stand next to where the occupants were sleeping. They subsequently stole a vehicle after leaving the home.

Camden City Planner Shawn Putnam was recently nominated and elected to the position of Chapter District 3 Director on the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Board of Directors.

Ardent Sentry participation

Although hurricane season does not officially begin until June, Camden's own Charlie Company and the SC National Guard recently underwent training in the event that a large scale storm or other disaster hits our state. From May 16 to 21, the National Guard participated in Ardent Sentry, a major training exercise in South Carolina focused on disaster response and coordination procedures.

Historic Camden’s Muster Day

On Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to noon, Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site will be hosting Muster Day. The event is for ages 6 to 12, parents and grandparents. Participants will embark on an adventure into the past. At Muster Days, the local militia practiced their marching and shooting.
