A service to celebrate the life of David Allen Hunter, 73, of Camden will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden. The Rev. Mary D'Alessio will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service.

KCC accepts KershawHealth EMS offer

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Kershaw County will become Kershaw County's responsibility July 1 following Kershaw County Council's 5-1 vote Tuesday to accept a $2.363 million payment from KershawHealth. Councilman Sammie Tucker Jr. voted against the proposal. Councilman Willie Mickle was absent.

Anderson engages youth through computer business

Potter's Computer Systems, at 1662 Hwy. 1 South in Lugoff, has only been open since September, but owner Thomas Anderson said he has years of experience with computers, including owning a previous business in Columbia. Anderson doesn't just use his skills and knowledge to repair and upgrade computers, make cellphone repairs and handle other communication needs. He's also passing his knowledge down to younger people.

Sumter man arrested in death of 65-year-old Camden man

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) arrested a 21-year-old Sumter man believed to be connected with the Jan. 27 shooting death of 65-year-old Johnny Singleton of Camden. Authorities found Singleton dead in his car along U.S. 521 near Rembert, initially thinking he may have died from injuries sustained in a crash.

S.C. House elects Bill Funderburk to judgeship

The S.C. House of Representatives elected Camden municipal judge and long-time attorney Bill Funderburk to serve as an administrative law judge in Columbia. Funderburk defeated 16-year incumbent Judge Carolyn Matthews, 87-50.
