Law enforcement leaders address public

Local and state law enforcement chiefs met with the public Thursday evening in a program hosted by the Concerned Clergy of Kershaw County. Panelists in Camden High School's auditorium included Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, Camden Police Department (CPD) Chief Joe Floyd and S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) Deputy Commander Lt. Col. Chris Williamson. Elgin Police Chief Harold Brown and Bethune Police Chief Joey Cobb also attended. Rev. Dr. Augustus Rodgers, pastor of Unity United Methodist Church in Lugoff served as the master of ceremonies.

Bear sightings reported to police

Sporadic reports of a black bear spotted in Camden this week remain unconfirmed as the Camden Police Department (CPD) said responding officers have not seen the animal. CPD Capt.
