KCSD revamps SEAGUL program

The Kershaw County School District will offer more classes for eighth-grade SEAGUL students as part of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees' five-year gifted education plan. Trustees expressed hope the new curriculum for SEAGUL -- Special Education Activities Geared for Unique Learning -- will maintain student interest to keep them from dropping out of the program during the school year.

Transitional housing a solution for KC homeless, leaders say

A U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) count of the country's homeless will now be conducted annually to maintain year-to-year numbers. United Way of Kershaw County (UWKC) President Donny Supplee said, however, that he "doesn't put stock in the count."

Array of services available for county’s homeless, others

Although only 50 people in Kershaw County took the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's homeless count survey (HUD), Food for the Soul (FFTS) and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church serve lunch to almost 100 people, separately, on a daily basis.
