Crime Report - July 10, 2013

A 34-year-old Lugoff man is accused of inappropriately touching two teenage girls and a 21-year-old woman, and of having sex with one of the teens. Neither a Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) report nor online court records indicate deputies have charged the man with a crime as of Tuesday afternoon.

Crime Report - July 3, 2013

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) and Department of Social Services are looking into a case where a 31-year-old woman with mental issues claimed to have been forced to commit sex acts against her will while staying with someone who was supposed to be taking care of her. One of the alleged victim's friends brought the matter to the KCSO's attention.

FRC director receives ‘Nobel Peace prize for public service’

Rosalyn Moses recently became the first person from South Carolina to receive an American Institute for Public Service's Jefferson Award. Moses, the executive director of the Family Resource Center (FRC) in Camden, received the award for her commitment and contributions to the Kershaw County community. She received the award during a two-day conference, June 17-18, in Washington, D.C.

Near drowning averted at Kendall Lake

One day before an Elgin homeowner found 15-year-old Daven Williams dead in their swimming pool, a Camden man was transported -- alive -- to the hospital after nearly drowning in Kendall Lake. Camden Police Department (CPD) Chief Joe Floyd said the 35-year-old man had to be taken to the hospital after he tried to rescue his fiancé's flotation device.

Pine Grove Residential student found dead in swimming pool
