Bethune Town Council voted to dissolve the Bethune Police Department (BPD) at its March meeting after determining the town does not have enough money to hire a new police chief. KCSD revamps SEAGUL program

The Kershaw County School District will offer more classes for eighth-grade SEAGUL students as part of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees' five-year gifted education plan. Trustees expressed hope the new curriculum for SEAGUL -- Special Education Activities Geared for Unique Learning -- will maintain student interest to keep them from dropping out of the program during the school year.

Transitional housing a solution for KC homeless, leaders say

CHS newspaper wins first Palmetto Award in 14 years

Camden High School's (CHS) Palmetto Leaf newspaper staff won a total of eight awards from the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association (SCSPA) in April.
