L-EWA updates bank accounts
The Lugoff-Elgin Water Authority (L-EWA) Board of Directors unanimously approved the opening of a new brokerage bank account to handle the authority's investment securities. The motion passed during the board's Sept. 6 meeting.
Leads dwindle as search continues for Laster
The Elgin Police Department (EPD) has little grounds to charge Freddie Grant in the case of a missing Elgin woman from Florida. Grant is thought to be connected with the disappearance of Adriana Laster, 28, last seen in September 2011. EPD Chief Harold Brown has previously confirmed that Laster lived with Grant before she disappeared.
Elgin cuts ribbon on remodeled town hall
Elgin Mayor Brad Hanley and Elgin Town Council cut the ribbon Thursday, rededicating newly remodeled Elgin Town Hall. Completed renovations include a new municipal courtroom, administrative area and offices for the Elgin Police Department. Elgin Town Council also commissioned local artist Susan Harkey to create a town seal which currently hangs in the courtroom.
