Brock Robinson threw five innings of shutout ball as the Kershaw County Post 17 Junior American Legion team kicked off their season with a 9-2 win over host Manning last Wednesday night in League III action.
Ron Blackmon, the former North Central High School head football coach and athletic director, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the South Carolina Strength Coaches Association (SCSCA) at the South Carolina High School Powerlifting Meet earlier this spring.

As he prepared to tack up Cougar at Heart for a mid-Monday morning gallop at the Springdale Race Course, Brian Crowley peered beneath the neck of the 5-year-old mare and pointed a finger across the way to the vacant stall 618 which was occupied by Arcadius.

Turning what was to have been a doubleheader of baseball into, basically, one single game, Kershaw County Post 17 cemented its second-place finish in League III by sweeping Wednesday's pair of games with visiting Manning-Santee.
