Receiving top 60 finishes from sophomores Garrett Lawson and K.P. Cassidy, the Camden boys' cross country team finished 16th in Saturday's South Carolina High School League AAA boys cross country championship.
After not being able to come to an agreement as to when to play last Friday night's scheduled games which were postponed due to the flooding in the Columbia area, the Region 4-AAA athletic directors and football coaches are expected to meet today, following the league's regularly scheduled athletic directors' meeting, to discuss plans for when last Friday's games may be played.
Following a Thursday afternoon meeting of the athletic directors from the six Region 4-AAA schools, it was decided that all three conference football games scheduled for Friday night would be postponed for the time being. Another meeting may have to be conducted in order to reschedule the three contests which included Lower Richland at Camden.
Tuesday: Dreher at Camden (TEN – 5 p.m.); Ridge View at Lugoff-Elgin (TEN – 5:30 p.m.); Dreher at Camden (VB – 6:30 p.m.); North Central at Indian Land (VB – 6:30 p.m.); Ridge View at Lugoff-Elgin (VB – 7 p.m.)
Due to the anticipated stretch of inclement weather on Friday and into the weekend, both the Lugoff-Elgin at Lexington and Chesterfield at North Central football games originally scheduled for Friday night have been moved up to Thursday.
Camden's Maggie Speaks was named the most valuable player in helping the North Carolina State volleyball team to the tournament title in last weekend's Double Tree Cary Classic Championship in Raleigh.
